Sustainability being within the DNA of RadiciGroup, the team was from the start interested in implementing various sustainable strategies on the project. The main objective of Radici was to achieve an energy-efficient asset while answering the thermal and lighting challenges of the new factory in Suzhou. Moreover, they wanted to achieve GBL and LEED certifications.
We invite you to read the following interview of Alberto Sessolo, Country Manager of Radici Plastics Suzhou.
1 – Can you tell us more about your professional background & the activities of RADICIGROUP in Asia?
I graduated from Ca’Foscari University in economics subjects and after a first working experience in an Italian SME. I joined Assa Abloy Group for which I worked from 2010 to 2015 having my first experience in China from 2012 to 2014. In 2015, I joined Radici Plastics Suzhou as Operation Manager and at the beginning of 2018, I took the position of Country Manager.
RadiciGroup is one of the world’s leading producers of a wide range of chemical intermediates, polyamide polymers, high-performance polymers and advanced textile solutions, which include nylon yarn, polyester yarn, yarn made from recovered and bio-source materials, nonwovens and personal protective equipment for the healthcare and industrial sectors. RadiciGroup’s diversified businesses operate worldwide and are focused on: Specialty Chemicals, High Performance Polymers, and Advanced Textile Solutions.
Radici Plastics Plant in Suzhou
Radici Plastics Suzhou is the sole manufacturing plant in China of RadiciGroup High-Performance Polymers, one of the 3 divisions of the Group. In Suzhou, we produce High-Performance Engineering Plastics which are widely used in applications for Automotive, E/E, Industrial & Consumer Goods, and Water Management.
2 – How did you hear about TERAO? In what context did you need TERAO support?
After a few months, we signed an agreement with the Suxiang Cooperation Zone in Suzhou for the purchasing of a piece of land to build our new factory, I was approached by Terao and during an initial encounter got the opportunity to learn more about the company and its expertise. Considering the attention that our Group puts on the topic of Sustainability, we decided to explore the possibility of cooperation that eventually ended with the decision to work together on this project.
3 – How TERAO is contributing to your project(s)?
Terao in the beginning provided us with a feasibility study, this study focused on assessing the potential of our project to achieve LEED and GBL certifications. After reviewing the results of the feasibility study, we were impressed by their commitment to our project’s success. Recognizing the value they could bring to our project, we decided to further enlarge our cooperation to full assistance by Terao on the whole project. They focused on enhancing our project’s overall sustainability, from energy efficiency to waste management systems:
- High-efficiency MEP system for offices (heat recovery, VRV system, LED new generation,…)
- Low carbon assistant
- Roof fully covered with photovoltaic panels (1.5MWp)
- 100% of process water treated and reused
- Reuse of rainwater for process cooling, restrooms and irrigation
- Vegetated parking

Their guidance and support were extremely useful in achieving the sustainability and environmental targets we had set out to accomplish. Looking back on our journey, we can confidently say that we are really satisfied with the support provided by Terao team.
4 – Which part of TERAO’s work are you the most satisfied about?
There is not a specific part we are satisfied with since as I said before Terao team showed since the beginning a very high level of professionalism and expertise that was maintained all along the project. From the project’s outset, TERAO showcased a profound dedication to sustainability that left a lasting impression on our team. Their commitment to the core principle of “Passion for Sustainability” was evident in each phase of the project. They have not only met our expectations but exceeded them by consistently delivering innovative and environmentally responsible solutions whether it was in the planning phase, execution of tasks or project management.
